About

I’m Maureen, mom to Leo and wife to Joe; we live in Michigan. This started as a blog for family and friends about my awesome  kid, Leo. It is morphing into a bit more than that now, including my recipe project and maybe some other things I have up my sleeve.

A quick note on what was wrong with Leo:

The problem with his heart turned out to be nothing too serious. They are just going to watch it, because it will probably clear up on its own. So, no heart surgery, which was great. He did have duodenal atresia, though, which means that the first and second parts of his small intestine were not connected. The surgery he had connected the two parts, and we are just waiting for things to start working as they should now. Fingers crossed for a good poop in the next couple of days! He also had a malrotation of the intestines, which means that his intestines were not all in the right place. This can be a very serious problem, so the surgeon moved some things around and took out his appendix as well. While things aren’t where they normally are, they are arranged so that they won’t cause him any problems now.

On the Recipe Box:

Mom-mom. She rocked. We loved her so much, and she loved us right back. Sunday dinners, baked goods, chicken soup and a sandwich, hand-knitted sweaters. Working through the recipes is like stepping back into so many memories and leaves me feeling grateful and sad, but glad that I can keep passing them on.
