Back to Work

Action shot with caterpillar toy

Leo playing with the caterpillar

Tomorrow is my first day back to the office after my maternity leave. I can’t believe the day has finally come. On the one hand, I’ve always enjoyed this time of year because going back to school was my favorite thing, but on the other hand, it isn’t school, it is work, and it means I have to leave my awesome baby at home. Boohoo. Joe will be taking care of him and working from home for a month, while I get back into the swing of things with my projects, then I’ll be working from home and we will make the move to Michigan.

Leo has grown so much! I’ll have to post some new pics of him soon, because you wouldn’t believe it. He is literally twice as big as he was when he was born. The pictures of him from July astonish me – how small and wrinkly and fragile he was. Now, he is big and fat and burly. It occurred to me the other night that, since he has only been on breastmilk since he was born, I made him and grow him. Nature amazes, elegantly drawing one generation from the last.

  1. Good luck! I cried my first day back to work (and a few after that). I love this picture of Leo. Most of your pics, he looks just like Joe, but in this one he definitely has one of your impish expressions.
