Threshold Circuit #2

Balancing visual and sound elements between distortion and clarity, I created Threshold Circuit. Viruses (biological and electrically) manipulate information and our bodies everyday and I want to visually describe that “teetering” moment between clarity and confusion

Deck(2009)

“Deck” was created to explore a “non-electronic” experiment of creating an animation using thin simple lines.  In “Deck” I used a portable video camera and “danced” across a backyard deck keeping the camera lense focused on the deck’s floor.

The music for this piece has similar purpose to “Lim.1″, to immerse the audience into the fast movements by using the constrasting, slow moving sounds.

Resonations(excerpt)

“Resonations” was made at Experimental Television Center in Owego, NY.

To generate  the video I connected a low voltage electrical signal from an audio synthesizer (+ or – 5 volts) to the input of a video signal generator. The result created a series of undulating bands on the screen images except that it was black and white. I then used another piece of equipment that was connected to the output of the video signal generator to shift the color values.
The footage for “Resonations” was created as a studio performance and recorded to video tape.

Linear Slide

Linear Slide was created from a composite of analog video process results that I experimented with while in residency at Experimental Television Center, in NY state. The footage for “Linear Slide” was created as a studio performance and recorded to video tape.

“Linear Slide” is the most recent development (1/2009) of works from this footage.

I introduce more “noise” or “corruption” into this work as the vertical lines slide and ungulate across the screen.
